May. 28th, 2007 10:46 pmHooray, I got all of the cats out from underneath my place. Duct tape will no longer be used to hold the panels on, as it literally disintegrated when faced with sunlight. Maybe it was vampire duct tape, if that's what happened! Eh, I'm reading into this too much.
Balticon was fun, for the whole 3/4 of a day that we went. I bought a t-shirt and my friend found an abandoned hubcap in the parking lot and carried that around for the remainder of the day we were there. "Is that part of a costume?" "No, it's just a hubcap." It was an amazingly effective conversation piece. We went to observe, and instead we participated.
Something we noticed after the fact: There was a complete lack of random kids sitting in the walkways, and the few kids that were there, were with their parents THE WHOLE TIME rather than running around completely unsupervised. I'm 32 years old, and I was also technically in "the younger crowd" at this event. I think I shall go to this again next year. The fact that it's within half an hour's drive and I have a high familiarity of the area is also nice.
My iTunes library is now OVER 9000!! Because of this, it also takes over a minute to load anytime I start the program. :V Recent raids on FTP services and IRC channels have contributed greatly to this playlist swell.
I saw this the other day, and had to take a picture of it.
The Haruhi Suzumiya DVD boxset that just came out has some sweetness to it; it also includes the opening and ending themes on a cd, a Haruhi "ribbon", a pencil board, and is generally all-around awesome. I'm glad I got this, and if you liked the series, you should get it too.
To cap off my weekend, there was also lots and lots of sleeping. Which is good.
