psipsy: (tsukune!)

Over Thanksgiving, I watched the Transformers movie. Indeed, the action (that finally got moving after about an hour in) and special effects were impressive. And the design change on the Transformers themselves didn't bother me. However, I was left with a burning question: If those glasses were so damn important, and they were for sale on ebay, why didn't either the Autobots OR Decepticons expend the bit of effort to make their own ebay/paypal accounts and just bid on the damn thing and be done with it? I mean, if the Decepticons could hack into military computer systems with ease, one would think they could simply hijack someone's existing account and use that? Normally I don't bother myself with such details, but this one sticks in my craw.

Tried getting a new battery for my laptop. Went into the Apple store, told them what I had, and out I went with a new battery. I get out to my car, open it up, and it's not the right kind. I go back into the store, give them a bit more detail, and find out what I really need is effectively discontinued. While I'm disappointed they did not have the part I wanted, I must give them credit for taking back an opened package without a receipt when it was largely my fault for not fully specifying what I have in the first place.

After this entry, I shall commence a small marathon of anime, pizza, and Woodchuck.

I never even thought about them just bidding on the glasses.

If they had bid on them though, then there wouldn't have been a movie. :)

It would have probably made more sense if it was something that the kid BOUGHT off ebay.

Perhaps none of the transformers knew how ebay worked.

That's the only possible explanation, but shaky at best.

or perhaps they knew too well, and the chance of being outbid was too great. But I think the most likely reason was that since they know that another group was also after the glasses, they decided to get after Sam to get them immediatly, instead of waiting for the bid to end and for the glasses to arive in the mail, giving the other group a chance to intercept the glasses.

But then what if he had the "Buy It Now" option active?

A bidding war between both sides would have been a riot to watch.

I'm still thinking the Decepticons would have just sent a message to him saying "Bring the glasses to this location and get $$$" because when you're evil, money is easy to come by in the first place and thus is no object.

True. The Decepticons could have offered him any amount of money for them. But I guess they thought it would be more fun to attack him and steal them instead of just buying them from him no fuss. That or they didnt know how ebay worked. XD
