Something I've been doing lately is writing up the prevalent motifs that crop up in my dreams, and if available, a basis in reality. For example, such as the kind where I'm driving, then step on the brakes to stop, but it takes forever to stop even when I have the pedal pushed all the way to the floor. I never had that type of dream until I had the 300ZX, which really did do that to me within 6 months of me buying it. (PSA: 10 years is about when brake master cylinders start to fail regardless of mileage. Ask me how I know.)

Or other dreams where I levitate/fly. Never could figure how that came about.

Been awake since 3AM. I may try for another nap, otherwise work won't be fun.

I have had my share of "losing my brakes" dreams.... it means you feel like you're losing control in some aspect of your life, or so I hear.

levitation/flying = freedom

That's what I thought too, but those types only showing up after I had that experience IRL (and later on in almost every car I ever owned) is quite the coincidence.

Mashing a brake pedal to the floor and getting little effect for it is enough to make me wish I was dreaming.

True, but that's what's called "day residue" - there are other things in dreams that mean the same thing, but your brain chooses that particular manifestation of the symbolism because you experienced it IRL.

Had you been in a roller coaster that flew off the track (and survived it, of course), that would be in your dreams instead, I'm sure.

Or it could be something else entirely - YMMV, as they say.
