Jan. 18th, 2009 04:26 pmSetsucon was ok; the sort of convention that I had fun at but if I didn't go, life would go on. The trip home was 4 hours of "WHAT DID I GET MYSELF INTO" because I was driving over mountains in a snowstorm after midnight and had to guess where the road was much of the time, largely giving up on being in the right lane. That bit wasn't so much of a problem due to the fact that we went miles at a time between seeing other cars on the road. Ah, State College in January. I kinda expected this would happen; although it was something that Miss Cleo could have predicted. It made it onto the "Worst return trips from conventions" list but sadly nowhere near the top.
Today I counted up all of my anime DVDs and found I have not quite 500 but closing in. They add up, especially when getting 8-disc boxsets for $50 or when certain online retailers advertise 25 discs for $100. Now I need to find some decent kind of shelving system for these things instead of keeping them in plastic tubs, which makes them a bit hard to reach when all the tubs are stacked on each other. I looked into building my own, but I lack a suitable working area for the time being until the weather looks less like Antarctica and I can stay outside longer than 2 minutes before my hands go numb. Then I can build something nice and solid. For now, I got one of those rack things, the kind that advertises "needs no tools to assemble". It holds somewhere over 300 DVDs, so I still have to find a home for the other third of my collection, including all the hentai.
And now a song for the sake of posting one: Thanks for tuning in.
