Sep. 15th, 2009 04:22 amRight when I was going to embark on an adventure of some kind, the weather turns completely to crap and stays that way all week. I was seriously considering calling into work to tell them I was showing up anyway and using my vacation time for something else. Then I figured I didn't feel like working anyway, and I was making progress with the cleaning, so I continued.
The only real nice-weather day I had to work with was Sunday, so
aichan95 and I buzzed down to Chincoteague and then Ocean City. I can sum up the boardwalk there as such: T-shirt place, video games, candy store, surf shop, ice cream shop, burger/fries. Lather, rinse, repeat. (But I will have to return for the "Ripley's Believe it or Not" museum.) There was also an evening run to Atlantic City earlier in the week, but the further east I got the worse the rain was, so nothing really came of that. I thought of blazing through the rain anyway, which was becoming idiotic even by my standards and was literally asking for another Bad End.
I've decided that computer case boxes may have some good volume for holding stuff, but because of the tall dimensions, they're kinda useless. So out they went. Boxes with similarly useless dimensions, boxes that have obviously seen better days, boxes that have gaps in the wrong places, boxes for things I don't have anymore, out they went. Random papers with no value, junk mail hoarded in piles, out they went. Out!
tl;dr is that I'm beginning to have something resembling a floor again as a result.
Also: Friday rush hour traffic + heavy rain + loose dog that doesn't know the difference between busy interstate and rest area = Mayhem. I was going to help by offering some lunchmeat that I had bought at the store earlier, but someone else came to the rescue by bringing out their own dog. After all, what better way to lure back a runaway dog than... Another dog? Success! No dogs were hurt, but I would imagine there was much shitting of bricks.
In retrospect, maybe the week after Labor Day wasn't such a hot idea after all. I rolled the dice and the dice rolled me. At least I was busy in a good way.
