Down to one car for the time being. [livejournal.com profile] aichan95 is in the shop getting leaky fuel and brake lines replaced. The research I've done indicates that the 3rd generation Integras are starting to get hit by this. So, 15 years for fuel and brake lines. Ok, more like 14, since this started happening last year. The same research also gave an idea of how much it will cost, so the sticker shock wore off before I got the mechanic's quote. That said, if I didn't want to spend the money, I wouldn't bother to have this done. I won't say that she's starting to cost money, because she's been "costing money" like any other car for the past 10 years. Some years simply cost less than others.

Finished putting Windows 7 on [livejournal.com profile] reshana_dayan's laptop, since Vista was doing unpleasant things. I managed to bring it back to life a couple months ago so that she could salvage a lot of pictures and other important documents but it's not been acting right. Since it's now free of all the random shovelware that gets slapped on new computers, it runs a lot smoother and I dare say it uses less memory than Vista.

I got home last night to find one of my hard drives was literally screaming. As in, a high-pitched sustained squeal that I couldn't pin down where it was coming from until I randomly shut off one of the drives and the noise vanished. Fortunately I was able to get everything off of that one later in the evening. For what it's worth, I can pick up a new 2TB drive for $140.

Also, I've decided that my next phone is probably going to be Android-based. As much as I love my old PowerBook G4 and my 160GB iPod, I think Apple's being a bunch of utter cockwaffles about how they're handling the iPhones and the apps that are offered. I'm curious to see how long that business model will really last.

Get an iPad. It's sooo worth it. I kid you not! Pandora, Connect 4, Audio Books (over 3,000+), e-Book (26,000+ titles through Project Gutenberg), etc. And they're all FREE!!!!

I would start to consider an iPad after the following conditions are met:

1: They work out the bugs. There will be bugs.
2: The hype wears off.
3: Apple reins in their Moral Gestapo.

1. There are no bugs. You're thinking of the iPhone 4.

2. Not buying a good product because you're tired of the hype is akin to not eating pocky because otaku rave about it.

3. Porn is a sin! But you can still look at it on your browser. They'd be open to lawsuits if kids were able to use porn apps.

This would be something I'd get for use as a phone, so that's another matter. And just because there aren't any bugs now doesn't mean there won't be. Personally, I'd wait a few versions, maybe a price drop or two.

Ok how about this: When there's enough pocky on the market, so there's less of a demand for it and otaku can stop mugging each other for it. I do remember a time when if I was at a con with a box of pocky in my hands, the risk of someone running up and snatching it was real.

A lot of the apps that have been getting cut aren't even porn.
