Tekkoshocon was fun. Due to unforeseen events, instead of getting a panelist badge, I ended up with a staff badge, entirely because they lacked panelist badges. Funny how that works.

Some highlights:
Not having to really work for a badge I didn't really have to pay for.
Watching some of my friends in full costume nonchalantly walk through a crowded Monroeville Mall.
Every kind of store conceivable within walking distance = reasonable prices for things in the hotel itself.
Anime Hell. I have yet to see an Anime Hell that did NOT feature anything with Heino. And the whole Anime Hell thing has actually made Heino fans out of more than a few convention-goers. However: Heino rapping? I was certainly not expecting that.
Toy show in the Expo Mart the same weekend. It was an unexpected treat for both events. The toy show was like the refined coolness of 10,000 yard sales, without the broken appliances, used personal care items that were only meant for one-time use, smelly furniture, and electronic devices older than me. Instead there was more of "holy crap I've been looking for this".
Fantastic driving weather (most of the time) for the weekend, as [livejournal.com profile] yamikochan can attest to.
The kind of groove made by being with friends the whole weekend.
Taking candid pictures of each other.

Stuff bought:
Maburaho DVD 1 (Yes, Maburaho. No complaining allowed.)
Nurse Witch Komugi-chan/Magical Maid Koyori poster
couple 'o figurines
Tekko t-shirt
HO scale railroad car (bi-level automobile carrier)
souped up shopping cart (Hot Wheels)
3 2-liter bottles of Cherikee Red
It was a humble, yet splendid haul.

More on this later, plus more pictures.

Now I am glad to be home, even though I have discovered that suddenly I have about a dozen torrents to finish up.

And for random happy (and non-work-safe) fun, I would suggest this site. Towards the bottom of the main page is my review for the first episode of "Eiken". The image galleries are amusingly and delightfully tasteless, chock full of things that we generally didn't need to see, which means I've literally spent hours looking through them. The next time I do an update on the main page (HAHAHAHAHAHAHahem) I will add that as a regular link. Something like that should help lighten things up around here; I know more than a couple of you out there could use some brevity. Rusty spoons for everyone, I say.

Work tomorrow. Feh.
