Ok, so the plan has been defined and refined and it is now at the point where it is decided that the trip will be on July 9th with a rain date of the 16th. Tickets are $27 if purchased by the 11th this month, then after that until 3 days before it's $31. The day of, we all roll on down that Saturday, spend the entire day there, possibly spend the night there, and goof off on Sunday. [livejournal.com profile] vampyre_miyu and I are coordinating this, with [livejournal.com profile] tanuki and [livejournal.com profile] sarahstalcup going along, and a fifth who exists entirely outside of the internet aside from a hotmail account. If there's anyone else that is more interested than "maybe", by all means say so.

Meanwhile, in other news:

Little else has happened in the past couple week, getting home from Animazement with [livejournal.com profile] vampyre_miyu and otherwise racking up another 600 miles on [livejournal.com profile] yamikochan. [livejournal.com profile] sorakirei appears to have not suffered any permanent harm from staying in the same room with me for much of the weekend, impressive for someone that was just introduced to me.

I could have sworn that I had a karaoke version of Kotoko's "Sakuranbo Kiss", but apparently I don't, so this must be remedied. Speaking of which, she's going to appear at Anime Expo. If there was ever a time that I wanted to go to that con, it would be now. Should I just say to hell with it, spend the $315 for the plane ticket, and regard everything else as minor details that can be handled as they come? Or should I cross my fingers and hope she'll be at Otakon as well, since Geneon is the one backing her up? Five hours on an airplane vs. stopping at Otakon ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. Big difference there. Oy, if I had another week or two of vacation time, I'd actually do the drive instead of flying, even though it would take more time and cost more. There's another way to get gobs of time off, but y'know, after what I went through four years ago, I really don't want to consider that as a possibility. Anyway. I've heard Anime Expo is the sort of con that all fans should try to go to once, after that they don't have to. It's like what my mom says about convertibles, everyone should own one so they don't want one after that. Some conventions are getting too big for their britches, which takes away some of the fun. I tend to look forward to smaller conventions which are more laid back and have better programming and less rules and free parking and it's easier to find people without resorting to GPS devices and cellular phones. Anyway, Kotoko. I need to find the karaoke version of that song, and it hasn't appeared in any of the incredibly large torrents that have been showing up on Yonder Internets lately. And there's one reason why someone would want a karaoke version of any song! Ok, maybe two. But we all know the main reason! Don't worry, I'm not going to use it for any evil purposes. Really, you can trust me on this one. Oh, c'mon.

Anime Mid-Atlantic coming up in two weeks, and I have absolutely no plans on where I'm going to stay. Of course, the first year I went to AMA, I made it a one-day con for me and drove back home. But that was only slightly insane. It pales in comparison to what I did at Anime Central 2000. No, wait. That was just plain dumb of me. More on that another time. Speaking of which, I am woefully behind on convention reports. Last one was Katsucon '04, and I've been to a bunch since. Ah, I don't wanna think about doing them all at once. But it's not like I have a deadline or anything. Then again, that's how I got so far behind in the first place. It doesn't help when all I do at a con is either work or beat up the hotel's internet with the BitTorrent stick. What's to write about in that? Meh. Fortunately, the Mobile Fortress is now equipped with cable internet, so Ye PowerBook now only goes with me to serve as an unofficial backup video source and a place to stash the few con pictures that I take.

Hungry, tired, and confused as to how the evening disappeared so quickly. Rambling and rolling along, riding the LOLlercoaster called The Internet. As usual, any complaints can be directed to your nearest trash receptacle.
