Sep. 29th, 2006 08:18 pmYay the rest of my RightStuf order shipped. This makes me happy.
Anime Club tomorrow. If any of you out there happen to be somewhat in the York area (or able to travel there) and dig anime, you should check it out.
It's funny, and yet not funny about what we forget in life. I have a scientific calculator that I've had since high school, still works, having needed only a change of batteries. And I even have the instruction book and insert listing some physical constants that came with it, too. I'm sure that someone out there is really glad their calculator knows the Fluxoid Quantum constant, but alas, that function does not serve me. It's not to say that I don't use this calculator; far from it. It is capable of functions and ranges not found on typical calculators, some of which I still utilize, many of which I used to make use of but have since not used, and many that I've never touched. Like the Fluxoid Quantum constant. Simply put, it's not getting the action it used to. I'm sure that if I had actively pursued more heavy-duty math classes in school, I'd either still remember and make use of those functions or outgrown this device altogether, or forgotten all of that too. Depends on where I would have gone in life. It's an example of when I lament my lack of ability to focus, otherwise I certainly would have gone for things like trigonometry or even calculus. But if I tried that with my then-current capacities, I would have probably had to repeat a year or three even though math really was one of my strong points. Graduating at legal drinking age was not a savory prospect, so I picked my classes carefully and much to the surprise of everyone I got through high school without repeating any years. The moral of the story is that if you aim TOO high, all your hard work and effort will just come right back down to hit you on the head.
Ok enough of that, I'm in the mood for something to eat. And anime! I have my priorities.
Huzzah.
