It's somewhat disconcerting since that supply hasn't really logged too many hours. Lemme tell ya, the smell of fried electronic parts is something that doesn't go away for awhile. The power supply in the external drive case is still going, despite being on for well over 3 years. Not sure how much longer that's going to last, though. Then I recently found out my cellphone was causing any nearby speakers to start belching out random noise. Ah, Cingular and their GSM network. Oh yeah, I also got a bunch of those little flashing LED things that literally strap to my fingers for about a buck each. Hey, the three batteries it comes with cost much more than that. Also for LEDs, I also picked up a bunch of tri-color LEDs. I don't have to try to think of a valid use for them; there's about a dozen different things I could use them for. Schematics are swirling in my brain! I have something of a prototype device of a yet unnamed purpose built up, but it needs tweaking.
Tekkoshocon is coming up this weekend and I'm keeping cool about it. Most of whatever preparing I need to do can only really be done Thursday anyway, and what can be done beforehand needs done anyway such as laundry, getting a new air mattress, and putting extra hours in at work. It's a very simple situation for me, really. All I'm planning to do is show up and have fun. That's what works for me. After Tekkoshocon, my next con is probably going to be Anime Expo, unless I stick my nose in at Balticon and/or AMA in between.
Ok, I'm going back to sleep now.
