Anime Expo post
Jun. 30th, 2007 02:02 pmOk, after setting a new personal record for going without sleep, and after a little over 5 hours on something that handles like a school bus but 30-some thousand feet up in the air and moving at about 500MPH, followed by a shuttle-van ride that left much to be desired (some of my friends will likely never complain about my driving again, and I'm reminded of the importance of a functioning exhaust system), crazy-ass wait for registration where I passed the time by sleeping on the sidewalk, I'm here at Anime Expo.
Lines to get in anything are crazy, but scaling from Otakon, it's not so bad. Except for the part where I stand out in the sun for several hours. I'm a bit cooked now, I look like a lobster. And naturally if I had bothered to wait, I could have eventually strolled in without any kind of wait. But oh well. Anime Jungle was in the dealers room; but I was rather disappointed because they had elected to carry all the models and figures that everyone else was carrying. I was expecting better from them in the form of a ton of import cds and dvds. Oh well. I did indeed get some doujinshi. I'm lucky for two reasons: So far none of it is futanari and I'm still able to put it in my luggage for the trip home.
Tickets for the SOS and Momoi concerts are in hand, so I'm ready for that. I hear the SKIN concert rocked the house, despite the three hour delay. Note to convention AMV coordinators past, present and future: Make backup copies because not doing so almost ensures that something will go wrong, such as the computer with the sole copy being stolen. Such as what happened here.
Long Beach is nice, I can almost see the Pacific Ocean from here. That'll probably be my main mission for Monday evening after all is said and done. There's talk of coming here again next year, but I'd then have to choose between this and going to Japan because I don't quite get that much vacation time yet.
