Last month I went to AUSA, except as non-staff this time. I enjoyed that. It's something I should have done years ago. True, I had magical staff powers before I walked away from them, but then again those powers haven't been what they used to be.

Christmas is coming, and with that, a block of days off from work. And with a block of days off from work (in the middle of winter), comes my customary Big Cleanup (because it's too cold to go anywhere). But my Big Cleanup isn't always productive. Most of the time I end up watching anime or playing video games or sleeping in extra late, that sort of thing. In other words, goofing off. But I'm cool with that as long as I enjoy it.

But I fear not, because when it gets down to crunch time, there are two things I can do that help jump-start the process. One, set iTunes to DJ so that it plays about 36k songs in random order. Two, have a shot of whiskey. Ok, so the whiskey isn't entirely necessary, and I've gotten good cleaning sessions going without it. It's a symbolic gesture at a minimum.

When I first started my current job, I was somewhat annoyed by having all those holidays being lumped at the end of the year because I felt they would be more useful to me during the summer or at least around conventions. I still feel that way, but not as strongly, and I understand the logistical reasons behind that. It's better than getting a 3-day weekend for Christmas (like at my old job), and more closely resembles the longer breaks I used to get when I was still in school.

Alright, two more days of work this year, and one of them only exists in theory. Here goes.
