Recent tidbits:
Apr. 2nd, 2013 04:01 am-Thought I hit a more difficult plateau in my weight loss but it may have just been something I ate. I subscribe to the concept of calories in vs. calories out and that quality of those calories means just as much as the quantity. No pain, no gain! Be less weak!
-Weight is inching down, about a pound per week. That's about what I expect it to do.
-I got one of those fat-percentage devices. It looks like a big video game controller. Apparently the workouts are doing their thing because my fat percentage has been slowly but steadily decreasing.
-There's nothing like being able to go to the gym at 2AM in the morning. There's no one there, except maybe for a random security guard that wanders through every now and then. I use my phone as an mp3 player, and have put together some extended mixes to do cardio with. Apparently 16 minutes on the elliptical with the resistance cranked way up burns about 800 calories.
-As solid proof that I'm experiencing convention burnout, I skipped out on at least three rather local conventions. I know I'm not going to Tekkoshocon this year.
-I've finally finished working on my niece's laptop. It was sitting here for 4 weeks. I tried salvaging it as-is but it was so messed up I had to reinstall Windows 7. If this happens again she's getting Linux. As the saying goes: it can be done fast, free, and properly; pick TWO.
-Sometime this spring/summer, I'm thinking of renting storage again. Yeah I know, I wouldn't have to if I had less stuff. But no one else is rowing my oars for me, so it's my call.
-I've thought about getting a new TV. But I'd have to do something with the one I have now, which is a 24" tube set that I got in 2003. It works though. I don't watch much TV. I feel like a better man for it. If I don't watch much TV in the first place, then why would I need a bigger TV? I'd just hook it up to my computers/BD player and watch anime on it, that's what. Oh, but then I'd also need to get a surround sound system to go with it. Or I could cobble something together with what I already have.
-I was gonna complain about the snow we got earlier this week but then I remembered that last winter here was rather mild and relatively snow-free. I guess it all balances out.
-Bacon! Just because. I'd like to point out now that it was difficult at first to give up soft drinks. Giving up bacon? Forget it.
-I have a slow-cooker and I've been trying various experiments. My latest creation: General Tso's slow-cooked pulled turkey. With bacon. It's freakin' awesome.
To be continued!
