Lately I've been making my own sandwiches to take to work for lunch. Various lunchmeats and cheeses stacked a full inch thick in between a couple slices of Hawaiian bread, with a dollop each of remoulade sauce and relish, and a small cup of yogurt or applesauce or hummus on the side, prepared the night before, and kept in a semi-disposable plastic container in the fridge so I can grab-and-go. Why the effort? It's less about it being healthier or more economical, and more about it being delicious and satisfying. There's no being hungry after eating one, that's for sure.

Kinda poking at the idea of another trip to Japan eventually. Nothing solid at this point. Then again there was nothing solid about last year's trip at around this same time, as I was also focusing on getting Ai back on the road. Personally, I'm inclined to steer the trip around this event:

The short of it is that it's about doujin/indie music, and there are some remarkable offerings there. Another thing I want to see on my next trip is Motegi Twin Ring, which is a race course owned by Honda, and they also have a car museum there. It's currently viewable in Google Streetview, however that imagery is a few years old and they do cycle the vehicles in and out. Getting to that will require either riding a bus or renting a car. I've driven in Ireland, so driving on the left wouldn't be completely new.

Car stuff: Finally dived into why Nozomi's air conditioning stopped working. I fixed it by removing a spacer washer. I don't know how long that will last; it certainly won't be forever, I'll be happy if it gets through the summer, until I can replace the parts that are truly at fault. If I took her to a mechanic they would have said the whole AC system needs replaced and charge $2000 for it. This isn't the first time I've pulled off that kind of fix. In 2008, when Yamiko's AC went out, the cause was due to a thermal snap-switch that had burned itself out. Since I couldn't get the old broken one out, I ended up bypassing it with a wire nut.

Now that I have at least one car with working air conditioning again, that means a road trip is back on the table this summer. The last significant one I went on was in 2012, so I'm overdue for one. As for where I'd go, I have a few ideas. I'll know more when the time gets closer.
