Nov. 8th, 2021 04:42 amAt my mom's house there's a picture of me when I was no older than 4 years old, standing in front of a toy racing game thing on what I think was Christmas morning. I remember that moment too. I remember playing with that, or at least trying to. I remember the cars not staying on their track, on account of the thin blow-molded plastic terrain that formed the base with the built-in track. It was my first known experience with frustration, which might be why I remember it. Anyway, I was thinking what toy that was specifically. My biggest clue was that I remembered it had a Spiderman theme. After following a couple leads, I learned definitvely that it was a set of Aurora Screechers "Spiderman meets The Fly".

Now, it's been well over 40 years since I've played with that toy, and I know it didn't survive. I did a quick look on ebay, just to see if there were any sets. The individual cars are available, but not the base itself. I'm not really surprised by that. It was a toy designed to last just long enough until the next one came out. I figured this out a long time ago.
