Winter break is underway! Getting a few things done. After today, I still have a couple days left. I'd like to extend it by a week, and perhaps I could. Nah, I'll play the long game and save that time for spring/summer.

For a while I watched some vtubers. Watching music videos of denpa songs led me to that, as there's a lot of crossover. It was fun, at first. Maybe the vtuber thing isn't for me in the long run. Maybe I'm not in the target audience. They're fun to watch, for a while. Then it starts to feel draining because of all the other things I know I need to be doing. I feel more enrichment when doing something like building Lego or making models or working on the layout or fixing the cars. Or even just watching anime. I'll still tune into them now and then. As time permits.

Finally tried out the N-scale train set. As I've said before, Kato is very good about making their stuff work together. I had everything out of the boxes and running in a matter of minutes. It's neat to be able to put a basic layout on a normal table. I'm noticing other differences between HO and N, such as most of the couplers are 1-piece molded plastic, so cars need to be coupled by lifting the car and sliding the coupler over each other. And makers all have their own thing going on, so they might not work together. In HO, they all couple themselves just by bumping into each other and they're all generally compatible across different makes. And if they're not, it's easy to fix that. Not so easy in N. So time will tell: Will N-scale be the New Thing for me, or will it be too small for my eyeballs and fingerballs to handle?

Simple project: Repairing a shelf in the cheap Walmart bookcase I've had about 20 years. It needed fixed because it wasn't meant to hold LDs, which get heavy. What I ended up doing was enlarging the mount holes, running some all-thread rod through, and putting some nuts on the end to hold it all together. It now means that shelf is no longer really adjustable anymore, but that's how it goes.
