Gil's estate is... Almost done. Almost. A few technical bits left, but yeah. Almost done.

One of my older computers stopped working. Hopefully it's something easy like the power supply. Looks like I need to make another trip to the computer parts store. Then again I go there almost every week.

Next week: Really, REALLY start the process of renewing my passport. At least I'm doing this now instead of "oops I should have taken care of this before buying plane tickets".

I need to do something about a pair of molars that are acting up.

Ai is going to need new rear brakes after about only 80k miles. Since I don't have my own garage (yet), I'll have to take her to the mechanic again. Every time I go to buy parts for her, I'm finding more and more OEM parts are no longer available. It's heartbreaking. There are still aftermarket and used parts, but many times they're just not the same.

I heard it's tedious getting a US passport renewed. When you get it, would you be interested in visiting Canada?

It's less effort than getting one in the first place. The paperwork isn't bad, and AAA can supply me with the updated passport photo, and things can be mailed in. The biggest slog is the lead time, which is about 4-6 weeks for them to process it. If I get it expedited (for an extra fee), it's more like 2-3 weeks.

Of course I'm interested in visiting Canada.

Wow - three business days the last time I did it!

Getting it done in 3 days is an option, but only if I'm willing to spend an extra $300 and if I have proof of immediate travel plans.

3 days is standard here; $100 and immediate travel plans gets you next-day service. Plus the staff is friendly and courteous, with an efficient process intended to minimize wasted time (just like when you get your driver's license renewed). When I visited, they zipped me through so fast that my behind never had a chance to warm a chair in the waiting room.

For once, I feel happy about my country's bureaucracy.
