The Summer season of anime looks good with a bunch of returning shows. DragonMaid, Higurashi, Hamefura, Magia Record. I might even find a few others to add on there. Kinda like how it was with Super Cub and Odd Taxi, a couple shows I didn't expect to get into. Super Cub is relaxing and mellow, about a quiet high school girl who gets a moped and uses that to explore new places. For me, it brings back nostalgic feels from when I first started driving and suddenly my range grew exponentially. Meanwhile, Odd Taxi is modern noir in anime form and there's A LOT going on. It packs a lot of twists, doesn't waste a single second of its screen time, and the show goes out like the Sopranos. I think if I stumbled across that one late enough, I would have found myself watching the whole show in one sitting and then re-watching it again.

The Spider anime was fun, despite having 3D animation that looks like it was rendered on a Pentium 4 system with underlying hardware issues. I can deal with that, because the story is good, at least when it's focusing on Kumoko. Although the latest couple episodes have been more about the hero and his friends. Put Kumoko back on screen, dammit. That's the point of the fucking show. But then again, wouldn't it be kinda funny if the choppy 3D animation ended up being a plot point? It's not likely though.

"Combatants Will Be Dispatched!" Lewd and crude humor from the creators of the KonoSuba franchise, and that connection is acknowledged. I enjoyed this, and if they ever make a Combatants/Konosuba crossover, I'm in.

Magia Record: I loved the original Madoka Magica series and movies. The Magia series; I have mixed feelings about. I liked it for how it went into more detail about the whole franchise, but it didn't really help to explain anything about the original. It was also more of a really long commercial for the gacha game in some places. They're also talking about a 3rd Magia series later in the year?

Hamefura and DragonMaid are Known Quantities so I'm on board for that. Higurashi has been running long, but it's been going places. Weird places, as it does. I've gotten used to the combination of the franchise and the character design; is this what it was like when someone discovered chocolate and peanut butter go together?

I'm thinking of building another camera car for my train layout. Or modifying the one I have to accomodate a DJI Pocket. If I told a more hard-core model railroader that I've been using a brass railcar as a stuntmobile, intentionally sending it off tables at speed onto the floor, it might induce a heart attack. Never mind that it was designed and scratch-built for that purpose, with a minimum of detail (because there's no full-size equivalent). Thing is, brass model railroad stuff is expensive. Except when it isn't, like when I stumbled across a couple VERY ROUGH locomotives for sale last year. They were abused and modified poorly and fixing them required the big soldering iron followed by drilling and tapping.

I had an odd dream that MicroCenter started carrying 35mm camera film. It wouldn't be much of a stretch from the Instax film they do have.
