Y'know, job hunting is starting to suck.
Aug. 30th, 2001 01:37 pmYeah, maybe it's because I'm finally getting off my ass and starting to look. I've goofed off for a whole goddamn 4 months, during said time I've gone to conventions, on road trips, and otherwise stayed up until sunrise, and slept in till 4 in the afternoon. Yeah, it's been fun, but summer's winding down. When fall comes, goofing off won't be as much fun, if at all.
So now I'm really starting to look for work. I've had a few nibbles here and there, a couple interviews, but nothing that kept going. Upon digging through the online job search engines, I've found something particularly disturbing: Almost all employers require some obscure certification or experience in WTF, or a security clearance, or they want to stick me on a bus and send me to some desolate hellhole in the middle of nowhere. Looking at their requirements, I'm confronted by a flurry of abbreviations and buzzwords that are probably calculated to drive people dyslexic. I suppose they mean to do that. If someone can still think clearly after reading some of that mess, then they can start working. It's like a whole other goddamn language that someone pulled out of their ass. Am I feeling bitter? Maybe! This job search is enough to make me want to say "Fuck it, I think I'll just become a truck driver." ::grumbles:: And yes, job searching is what I've been doing the past several hours.
But that's not to say that this summer was a waste. I managed to go to an amusement park this year, drove to Michigan to visit friends, went to a couple anime conventions, and otherwise got stuff done around the house. Most notable of recent memories, was the trip to Six Flags a couple weeks ago. It was special, and will be remembered as one of the highlights of my entire summer. I suppose, I could go into detail of what we did that day, or I could just keep that to myself. ^_^ Either way, that Saturday meant a lot to me for many reasons.
Might as well continue on my job search. It's not like I have anything else to do today.
