Yappari, part 3.
Oct. 21st, 2004 08:48 pmThis morning was rough. I woke up to the sound of my furnace cycling on and off. Running for a minute, then not. Irritating, and I highly suspect a waste of energy as well. So I spent entirely too much time mucking with that, trying to get it to settle down, which in turn made me late for work.
In between that, a device I was working on needed a new heater element. I was told they reallyreallyreally needed this thing fixed, so I started cracking on it. Called in to the company, who told me there was a 7-day lead time on the new part. Ok. Put in the order, and was then told the part wouldn't come in until mid-November. Ok. Told the guy that originally was using it, and he was remarkably mellow about it. "Oh, that? It's been broken for about a month now." I found it all funny.
My current watchband is currently composed of rubber bands, because the one that's been attached to my watch for the past 9 years or so finally broke. Ghetto, but it works for now. No I don't need a new watch for my b-day. I just need the new band, and I don't want to wait the three weeks for it. So by the time most of you actually read this, I'll probably have a new one in place.
See, that's what makes gift-shopping for me so frustrating for other people. Stuff that I'd really like, is either too obscure for family members to find (I can't task my mom or sisters with finding I've Sound cds when I have trouble finding them myself) or too expensive (I'd really like someone to buy some 300GB hard drives for me, but oh well) or even too confusing (how about a 50-count spool of 8x DVD-R's but not the +R's). Then, there's the useful stuff, but for that sort of thing, I don't waste any time getting. If I need it that badly, then I get it. Things like underwear as a gift never made sense to me for that reason.
I can still honestly and proudly say that I haven't watched any significant amount of "Urotsukidoji". Or "Demon Beast Invasion" for that matter. Nor do I plan to. On the other hand, I own dvds of "La Blue Girl", which is from the same creative(?) minds.
Alrighty, York Anime Club coming up this weekend. Not the last weekend as usual, due to AUSA. I shall be playing fun anime, this includes the latest RE: Cutey Honey. I may spring an episode of MariMite on the unsuspecting mostly-male crowd.
Next week in its entirety will be quite interesting.
