I suppose this is becoming a "week in review" type journal, where each Friday or so I'll post an entry with some generic excuse as to why I haven't done anything. Or maybe it just so happens that Thursday or Friday happens to be when I post. I don't know.

For those of you that haven't been keeping score, I have journals for my cars. Yes, you read that correctly. There are reasons for this, however deluded and psychotic they may be. But at least it's fun and that's the part that matters. If you really want to know why out of curiosity or because you need a juicy project for psychology class, I can go into further detail. Or maybe in a later entry.

Speaking of car news, I got rear-ended on my way to work earlier this week. No injuries, but Ai-chan is showing some slight damage. Yes, Ai-chan, the one that's been in the body shop for about six weeks getting rust damage repaired and a paint job. The fact that it was less than a week later is what sucks the most. But I want her to look nice, so I'm having the repairs done. Insurance companies on both sides have been contacted, so hopefully that's all I'll have to do. Another big plus is that her drivability isn't affected, so she's still active. I'm surprised it did as little damage as it did; I've been rear-ended a bunch of times before, ranging from a mere bump that was only heard and not felt to impacts that pushed me forward, and this was quite possibly the most forceful. And how sympathetic I may be depends on why I was rear-ended. If it's because of slick roads and they really did try to stop but just couldn't, hey it could happen to anyone. But if they were busy with their cell phone or reading a newspaper or some other idiotic distraction, no mercy. This time, it was something in between, where the driver just happened to "zone out". It's nothing personal, but costs must be covered.

Now, most people with a 10-year old car with 252k miles would probably just live with it. But that's how problems start and how they add up. It's easy to let one thing go, then another, then another, and so on. Then you get careless and start letting things happen to it intentionally. First small things are allowed to slip by, then larger things. Eventually you have something that's not worth fixing and/or you can't wait to get rid of because it's full of problems. And that's the downward spiral that I hope to avoid with either of my cars. Ai-chan, with her current age and mileage, looks and runs great, and I don't regret any of the work that's been done. I wish I could take better care of her, but at the same time the fact that she's reached that kind of mileage indicates that I really do try. Some cars aren't able to reach that, and some are. Even the ones that can, still need a helping hand and a helping of trust.

But anyway. The rest of this week was less odd, despite how I woke up before 2AM this morning at full power. Or the trip to the grocery store, where I saw a box of Pop-tarts running a contest for a Darth Vader sound-alike toy. My initial thoughts: "Wow, Darth Vader and Pop-tarts. The secrets of the universe are now revealed." Come to think of it, because of the Darth Vader Pop-tarts my internet no longer smells like a cement truck and the mystery is now solved. It makes perfect sense.

I know some of you sometimes talk about the workplace, and I know some of you don't have a workplace to talk about. I have a workplace, but I generally don't talk about it. To those that wonder, I work in a semiconductor plant, and I help to repair the equipment used to that end. There's a couple other tidbits of info in the Memories, for those that are interested. Ok? Ok.

York Anime Club tomorrow! A full day of happy goofiness and anime. If you can, you should go. S'fun.

Goodies over on [livejournal.com profile] yamikochan's journal.

Hm, I've been up for about... 22 hours now? Yes, I can feel my IQ ticking down steadily. But, I have ice cream and Magic Shell. Fair trade, I say.

Friends List purge will occur sometime this weekend. The only ones that'll get dumped are deleted journals and "opt-outs", none of the Mutuals will be affected.

Anyway, 'nuff of that, later!
