Ok, I now officially have a roommate. There will also be a cat arriving soon. It is my understanding that cats and waterbeds do not mix. And for a good start, my bathroom sink no longer has a beard.

Today was pretty much shot. Woke up late, then took a nap, then soon I shall go back to bed. Everytime I would look at the clock, it would be an hour later than before. But I did get a few things shoved out of the way, such as clearing the clog in the shower drain, getting more soap, doing dishes and laundry, and some other discreet odds and ends. Much of the living room is still a disaster zone, but the loose items are gravitating towards specific areas, to then be boxed up and hauled off to storage for future sorting. A good portion of it will eventually get thrown out, but now's not the time to be worrying about that. There is also much of it that is obviously not trash, such as the SD-75M locomotive that I got a couple months ago. I'm going to be putting that on my layout that will go into the house that I eventually will have, some way or another. (As a sidenote, that's not my "ultimate dream", but it's in the pipeline.)

Also, I am getting closer to hooking up a DVD player/2 VCR's/LD player/PS2/PS1/SNES/NES/input from laptop/whatever else to my TV. It's not as hard as one may think, and if I get a new sound system, it'll be even easier. Go figure. (Reminds me, I still need to fix my original Playstation. The modchip I put in many years ago eventually failed.)

York Anime Club coming up in a couple weeks already, and I still need to figure out what to show aside from more Tsukuyomi and the rest of 3x3 Eyes. I already played the AMV Hell card, and Ghost Stories isn't coming out fast enough to justify playing it each month. But, I do have the School Rumble OVAs for this event. Eh, I'll figure something out, like I always do.

Ahhh it's getting late already. Good night.

speaking of "hooking up a DVD player/2 VCR's/LD player/PS2/PS1/SNES/NES/input from laptop/whatever else to my TV" -- can you tell me if such a creature exists that I can use to connect my laptop to the TV or VCR and watch movies that way? I've got a 15-pin female COM port in the back and some USB ports, but that's it and I'd like to watch through the TV because it's bigger and has better sound.

Somewhere on the back or sides of the laptop (most laptops have this, including my 5-year old G3 PB), there should be an S-video plug. It'll be black, round, and have a bunch of holes, typically in pairs. It will also likely say S-Video nearby. If you indeed have that, you can then use an S-video/composite adapter that will then be usable on the RCA inputs on your TV or VCR. If your TV has an S-video in, then you won't need the composite adapter. Hope that helps.

If you have a desktop system, you will need to have a video card that has a standard video-out on it.

Ah, I see. Well, like I said, it's cool. But if someone shows up and starts causing trouble, I won't hesitate to lay down some smack.

I know what you're talking about - but I don't think I have one on either the laptop OR the tv.

We'd be running the video through the VCR, which has video-inputs (that I know for sure)...maybe the thingy I need is what's connecting to my dvd player right now...hm. Will check when I get home.

If it were a desktop, I'd say get a video card that has an S-video out, but that's the problem with laptops. Aside from being able to change ram or hard drives, they're mostly set in stone.
