That was a close one
May. 18th, 2006 11:21 pmPerhaps I shall go to Anime North after all, despite not working out mundane details such as where I'm going to stay. Why I keep doing things like that, I have no idea. You'd think I would have learned by now. Considered flying up, then I found out that a flight would shave only 5 hours off the trip, not including time spent floating around the airports. And it would have cost close to $700, whereas gas for driving would be only about $100. But! I almost ran into a problem!
So yeah. After I had sent off for my passport, which involved sending my birth certificate along with the application to the State Department, I had remembered that if I am to go to Anime North, I would need my birth certificate to get into Canada. Oops. So during my lunch break the other day, I ordered up a new one online, with an initial estimated delivery of late next week. Found out today that it should arrive tomorrow. Sweet! The passport itself should appear sometime in June.
The G4 upgrade finally arrived, took only a few minutes to install, so now my old Lombard is rocking again. In the course of the operation, I see what Daystar did was scrounge up some old G3 cards, and refurbish them with new G4 chips. So that's why they're offering $55 for the old card. I like my old Lombard, I can use that while sitting on my waterbed and not feel like I'm about to be electrocuted. I may even slap OSX on it after a cascading hard drive upgrade. The new one would get a 120GB, then the old one inherits the 60GB. But the 60GB has a zillion hours on it, so I might just toss 120's in both and be done with it. Sounds like a plan.
Why can't I find the song "Frozen Embryos" by Three Guys From Hollywood? WHY?
Ah I got asked to go into work on Memorial Day. It's not so bad, since it's just for turning equipment back on, and it's an afternoonish job. OT pay is sweet, yo.
I am starting to exercise! I am also cutting back on eating unnecessary stuff. I have gotten rather large over the past few years, now closing in on 260 lbs. I don't really look that heavy, but it's there. For now, my exercises are basic ones. I may spend a few bucks and join a gym near where I work. It'll also provide a structured environment for that activity, and I'll probably go there often so that I can wait out rush hour.
Eheheh, time for bedtime.
