Weird, I go from posting every couple days or so to over two weeks of no posting. In regards to my last cryptic entry, no I did not do anything illegal (at least no more than usual).

Crazy evening work schedule going on this week. Then I go back to my not-so-crazy afternoon schedule. Sometime last week I wake up and saw the time was almost 8. I start freaking out, thinking that I should have been at work six hours ago, then start thinking "wait, why is it still light outside" and then being relieved that it was in fact 8 AM instead.

Originally I thought I had poison ivy in my yard, but it turns out they're wild blackberry plants and some of them have just now started to bear fruit. I know they're technically a weed, but does anyone want some blackberry plants?

Sometime yesterday after being awake for a few hours, I drift off and go into REM sleep but I'm still a teensy bit lucid. Lucid as in "I know this only happens in dreams" sort of thing.

So there I am, floating down the hallways of something like an office building. In dreams, I can float rather easily and can even start moving in mid-air; it used to be that I'd need some ground-speed momentum going on first. But I can't yet change direction in mid-air yet, if I want to do that I need to hook on a corner or kick off of a wall. So then I come around a corner and there's a long hallway in front of me, and I have an idea.
"Ready for an acceleration test."
"Ok, proceed."
My feet leave the ground, and I start to move forward. About the same as walking speed at first, but getting a little faster.
"How's my altitude?"
"About a foot off the ground."
I tuck my knees up closer to my chest, somewhere between seated and fetal positions. Speed is increasing dramatically.
"What's my current speed?"
"About 120 feet per second and rising."
"Should I contiune this indoors?"
"You should be fine. The expansion subroutine should prevent that from happening."
"I'm not sure if the expansion subroutine is keeping up, the end of the hallway is getting closer. And I keep getting close to the ceiling."
"Switching to an outdoor setting. This stretch of highway should work."
"Ok, thanks."
By now I'm not sure how fast I'm going, but I'm having trouble keeping a steady altitude at these speeds. One second I'm near ground level, the next I'm several hundred feet up. Another recurring theme in my dreams.
"I'm gonna slow down now; this is getting crazy."
"Careful, your descent is too sharp, you're gonna bounce!"
True enough, I bounced off the ground and hit an overpass at a speed of well over 100MPH. Everything went black.
"Wow, good thing this was in the dreamscape or you'd be hurting."
"No kidding. Oh well, it's about time to wake up again."
"Ok, canceling the test."
And then I woke up.

I leave you with this:

It's all good.

Those wasps could be a nasty shock...or not. Some wasps, and I have to look these up in my bug book, almost never sting; others, like hornets, tend to have really short fuses and nasty tempers and painful stings to prove it.

I was surprised at how similar your dream experience was to ones I used to have frequently. (The nature of dreams changes dramatically in old age, at least that's been my experience.) I never had a dream with an acceleration test or one in which the floating thing was the main focus, but I often tended to move from place to place a few feet above the surface beneath me.

We used to have ones like that back home, and they would sting, but inadvertently running a lawn mower over their nest would understandably get their goat. There's a total of about three nests like that here; the pictured one is right near my shed door. I go in and out of the shed just the same and so far they haven't bothered me.

For what it's worth, the in-dream acceleration test was a new one on me too.

Hehehe.

Hey, unrelated: what torrent downloader do you use (program-wise)? A friend of mine has a Mac and I didn't know what program/s to recommend to him. I use Bitcomet, but that's PC-only.

I used to use the original BitTorrent program itself, but have long since moved on to Azureus. There's a few others floating around on VersionTracker, but most of them have OSX 10.3 as a minimum requirement, and all of them require some form of OSX.

Cool. Where did you download the program? What's VersionTracker?

http://www.versiontracker.com

They don't necessarily store programs there, they just link to them and offer people a chance to compare and filter and whatnot.

You missed my epic thread in 4chan. It was full of epic and azumanga hentai. I still hate that place though.

You need to learn how to archive threads. And you must learn the joys of the Not4chan extension for Firefox.
