Feb. 20th, 2008 02:11 amYarr went to Katsucon for Saturday. Twas fun after all. Didn't buy anything from the dealers room, most of the time I walked around the convention itself, saying hello to most of the usual folks. Took maybe a dozen pictures, and with my goggles and squeaky mallet, probably about as many pictures taken of me, as well as a couple sketches. Then I went home.
So, the next convention for me is Tekkoshocon. I've always liked that one, it's fun because it's laid-back and doesn't make extravagant claims and promises but still gets the job done. It's also roughly in the same area that I grew up (Western PA) so I invariably make a swing by the old neighborhood.
Oh yes, anime.
Time Bokan: I forgot how long ago I picked up the DVD, and I finally got around to watching it. In retrospect, I should have watched it when I got it. It's awesome, a veritable 4th wall bashfest. A race to decide who will get to be the main villains in Yattaman, and then a trip to the land of Speed Racer and Gatchaman. And a giant schoolgirl mecha.
Minna Agechau: Mid-80s soft-core hentai anime. This was almost released in the US but the timing for such an event was bad, so for eons it sat in obscurity. Then one fine day a fansub appears! The main character looks like Ataru Moroboshi with a 'fro, and discovers that rich people are nuts. This one is a riot, and intentionally so. The training? A riot. The scene in the tank? A riot. And there are maids. You get the idea.
Not much else. Mostly stockpiling episodes so I can watch whole series at once. One of these days I'm going to take off a couple days from work and make an extended weekend and use it to watch anime nonstop. That should account for a whopping .1% of my total stash.
In the next exciting episode of my LJ: BURNING QUESTIONS! Maybe. In the meantime, ponder on this.
