Otakon in a nutshell
Aug. 11th, 2008 12:22 amOtakon was ok this year. Personally I think they've seen better days. Seems like their overall quality continues sliding here and there, such as almost getting to the point of needing a magnifying glassscanning electron microscope for reading the schedule (that looks like it was printed out at the last minute and was still inaccurate). Then again a 2-hour long JAM Project concert on Friday night? I can't argue with that. Wow, Otakon getting a musical guest that interests me. That hasn't happened in a loooong time. I thought they jumped the shark when they got L'arc en Ciel. Not that I was interested, I was just impressed Otakon got them one year.
Awesome meeting
animedude and
resonant. Yer both crazy but it's a good crazy.
The rest of the weekend was spent goofing off. And drinking. Damn near didn't buy anything in the dealers room, until a couple hours before the whole con was over on Sunday, and even then I still have cash left over. All the anime that we watched was in the hotel room, and we got a bit over halfway through "Mahoraba" which can be best described as "Maison Ikkoku Lite". Even some of the background music is the same, seriously. Anyway.
The thing about going to conventions both near and far is that they always wipe my brain of what else I was going to do afterwards. I got home and fell asleep, and I'm now waking up again.
