Stayed at work so long on Friday that sunrise came and went. Ah, haven't done that in a long time. Although I didn't top my coworker, who had finally left at 5AM Saturday morning after a 22 hour shift. Sure it sounds brutal, but can't argue with the overtime pay.

Then I get home, fall asleep, get a wake-up call to drag my ass to Anime Club, so I do that and get everything up and running and maybe 5 minutes into it the projector lamp BLOWS OUT. Hear a small boom, then the indicator lights go all red. Yeah. And instead of dragging my PC there, I really should look into getting a newer laptop to run video off of. Regretably, my trusty G4 PowerBook may be fine with XVID-based .avi files, but for most of the newer and more exotic .mkv files, it chokes and gags.

So now not only am I on the hunt for another 2nd car (however half-assed that search may be), but now a projector lamp too. And possibly another laptop, which I damn near bought after the AUSA staff meeting. Then the Impulse-Delay subroutine kicked in and I walked out without a new laptop. Impulse-Delay is handy, it keeps me from getting or doing something without thinking. It's a clever way of making ADHD cancel itself out, and is usually effective. Not 100%, but it's usable.

Also, looking at the calendar post-AUSA, I'm becoming more decidedly intent on going to Zenkaikon (not to be confused with TrainwreckCon). Two conventions two weekends in a row? Madness! But nothing new for me. What's strange for that one is how it's about the same distance to home than AUSA is, possibly closer. What's also strange is that they haven't set up a hotel room block, which means guilt-free commuting. Either way it's going to be my post-AUSA-crash-con.

Trying to think of what else I had going on, what I was going to use my next weekend on. AUSA staff meeting, but something else.

Oh well.

Can you send me the source code for your Impulse-Delay program? I really need to compile and install it.

You need to have ADHD-based drivers installed first, or it won't work.

I'm surprised you haven't considered a mac mini for the club - cheap, small, and easy to hook up to a projector. You can always rig it for Boot Camp if you need anything funky video-wise that Perian can't handle as well.

Hm. This is true.

I would need to get the peripherals for it, as it doesn't make sense to me to get one and only use it once a month.

$211.11 generic replacement lamp:

Macs are so overpriced. Just get a new PC laptop for $399:

Yep, that price is about what I'm finding for the lamps. Have you bought from there? Is that for the whole lamp+housing or just the lamp? Also, I'm surprised you remembered the model number from when I told you long ago.

The Dell looks neat, but by the time I'd be done souping it up, it'll cost as much as a Mac.

Here's one that I looked at and considered: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0296662
It's got an HDMI port, not too picky about brands or it performing as well as a desktop; that's why I already HAVE a desktop.

That place has a good reputation, but here's the full list:

Wait a second! You said you don't need for the laptop to perform like a desktop, but then you claim you'd have to 'soup' it up? LOL Seriously, that Dell should run everything you would need, short of FPS gaming and video editing.

That MicroCenter laptop seems a little expensive for the specs (plus, that ATI card seems overkill if you're not playing FPS games). Best Buy has some great deals on the $500 end in their weekly circulars - even those with Core 2 Duo processors.

After souping it up, it still won't have as much as my desktop PC. I don't trust Vista on the specs for the base models. Also, to put XP instead of Vista on the Dell would cost an extra $90. Which is kinda sad.
