There's been one spot on the side of my neck that's been itchy the past couple weeks for no particular reason. Soap+water, lotions, creams, no effect. It had better not be Oyashirosama's curse again.

In regards to gratuitous boobies and panty shots, this is a lot like the original Aika. I have no complaints there.

What is different is the nature of Aika herself. In the original she was all business, but in R-16, she was more of a snarky goofball. I guess that's to reflect youth and lack of maturity of her character. Ami Koshimizu pulls that off well, which also explains the similarity to Tenma from School Rumble. No complaints there either.

What's also different is that no one dies. There are guns, but most of them are tranquilizer guns. The only real gun used was for firing some warning shots at a helicopter. After all, no matter how much T&A is running around, killing any of it is a waste. Just knock them unconscious to keep them from doing any harm. Again, no complaints.

At the end of each episode there's a quick and amusing SD bit. But no complaints there.

The only complaint I have is that there are only 3 episodes. Cuz it's all about fanservice.

Meanwhile I'm working on my niece's laptop, as it picked up a couple bugs. Ah, the ability to yank the hard drive out and hook it up to another computer to do the scanning. So I go to see what updates are available, and discover that mass-installed XP + non-Intel processor + SP3 = BSOD. Halfway through the process it starts bleeding out the ass. I have not had this problem on my main PC, or the one I'm building for my mom, as they're both running on Intel chips and I've personally installed XP on them, two factors that I feel are very relevant to this minor adventure. As such, it's also compelling me to create some XP discs with SP3 slipstreamed into them. I have both a Home and Pro disc to use for this. That way I can just do a fresh install and be done with it. At least I got the virus and malware out.

I'm royally in need of new jeans. Most of the pairs I have are wearing out in unfortunate locations. Also [livejournal.com profile] aichan95 needs new tires or winter is going to be more unpleasant than need be.

A couple nights ago I dreamt I bought another RSX, except it was red. Hm.

Starting the day hungry! Hungry for CONQUEST! And mebbe a sammich.

SP3 etc.

I have turned off any automatic updating from Microsoft. The last time something got downloaded into my system, it took me a few days to undo the mess it made. I've decided that my computer works satisfactorily as it is(not anything to brag about, but it starts up every morning, and I know about what to expect in the way of minor problems when they occasionally arise and how to remedy them), and nothing that Bill's boys can come up is worth the potential problems that it may cause.

That's just it, I never had this kind of trouble before with SP3. After a bunch of successful installs on other systems, this is the first time I saw it fail so catastrophically. At least with SP3, it's able to decide "oops that didn't go well", so after a bunch of restarts the laptop was back to its previous state.

Granted, the laptop is powered by something called a Via C7-M, which I initially thought was made by AMD but it's apparently a 3rd processor company.

This also reminds me of a half-clever thing I've seen with malware spreading itself through the old "poisoned website" trick, where I went to a site and all of a sudden there's a popup window declaring a Windows update was available. The appearance was very convincing, with great attention to detail, but what tipped me off was 1. the window only appeared in the browser and 2. I was using my PowerBook running OSX.
