The answer has a lot to do with who you are/I am/one is. In my case, e-mail is my only practical contact with the "outside world." I put that in quotes because I live in East Texas, not what most people think of as remoteness or incarceration. That contact enables me to retain what sanity I still have left. Also, the only ways I have of picking up some extra money require me to have relatively-high-speed Internet access, and those few extra $$$ are again, in my case, serious stuff.
Inherently, the Internet is not serious business. Everything, I believe, is a matter of perception. Nothing that seems to go on in a human life, beyond the periphery of our bodies, occurs anywhere other than in our minds. What we see, hear, feel, taste, and smell are nothing more than synaptic firings in our gray matter. We don't actually know whether there is anything "out there" beyond our bodies or not. Communally, we may just be picking up endless energy fields and processing them so that they appear to be solid objects, aromas, sounds, etc. We already know that light and sound are energy-based. Why not everything else?
Depends

Gotta go now.
