Whee, 3-day weekend. If the weather were nicer, I'd probably be already gone on some weird adventure again. But it's quite rainy outside, so I'm probably going to have a weird adventure in the comfort of my own home instead. I want to go somewhere anyway though.

If any of you have a Geocities site, you should know that ship is about to sink; Yahoo announced the free hosting is getting discontinued by the end of the year. As much of a bummer it is to lose out on free webhosting, one should remember they offer only 15MB of space which would be a lot if this was ten years ago. Also they had low monthly bandwidth usage which came out to about 4MB per hour, which meant that a denial-of-service attack could be run by someone on dialup. I knocked mine offline within minutes while scraping stuff off of it to use on the newer site.

Something else that's a lot harder to do on a Geocities site than with a full hosting plan: This.

Nope, the news is on Yahoo as well. The fact that you didn't know it was still around means that no one will probably miss it when it's gone, either. Except maybe the people that still rely on it for free webhosting, then they'll have to go over to angelfire/tripod/whatever else is out there.

Maybe the disposable income is a factor, but full hosting is so much better.
