It's curious that I have an allergy to penicillin, and yet I'm able to eat blue cheese without problem. I guess it depends on the cheese.

Apparently there's different versions of penicillin. Some are allergic to both, and some aren't.

Allergic to penicillin? So if you ever get syphilis, you're screwed...

There are alternate treatments, but either way I have "don't get syphilis" rather high up on my list of priorities.

Priorities are good, but they should never cut into having a good time.

The same for me, though I have a worse reaction to amoxycillin than to penicillin.

However, penicillin is, as I recall, usually injected, whereas blue cheese is ingested, and the mold is probably greatly altered in the digestion process and the allergens also altered and defanged. Or not...

That was showing up in searches, so that sounds about right. I would also think that of however much that gets ingested, little if any of it would hit the bloodstream, as opposed to injected versions, which are bred for potency and somewhat modified to stick around in the body long enough to do its job.
