Aug. 18th, 2010 08:15 amThe experiment with the strawberries, blueberries, yogurt and granola was a success in its first stage, which isn't surprising when the main process is "mixing all of it together". I also succeeded in resisting the temptation to spike the whole batch with a captain's serving of schnapps, but that remains an option for a single-serving prototype. The next batch will probably make use of a plain yogurt. The first batch used a strawberry-flavored yogurt, creating a strawberry redundancy but it's what I had on hand. It was good anyway.
In an effort to avoid self-destructing from this and other culinary lunacies (the recipe for the bacon cheesesteak super-sub has been locked away in an underground vault and sealed with spiritual wards so that I might live to see 40), I have decided to get back into the fitness gig. I used to go to a gym, but then I went to second shift, and the gym's hours didn't jive with that. Oh, but I miss it. I miss feeling The Burn. I miss seeing the genuine results that began to show. Well, fancy that, my company built another building next door to the one I work in, and included a fitness center, free for use by employees. The option of going there after my shift doesn't exist unless they make it 24/7, but I could still go on lunch break. My job duties have a good bit of physical effort already, but if go and grind on the elliptical for awhile per day, that would be a bonus. The wheels for this course of events have begun to turn. I have to go to an orientation for the fitness center in two weeks before I can start using it and thus avoid wading into the dark seas of becoming a fatass.
Recently I thought about building a home server computer. The requirements for this purpose aren't very high, so I would implement what is already available to me. All that I need to get this chugging would be a case, supply, and motherboard for a Socket478 processor, all doable for under $100. Everything else I have on hand. The source of these parts? My first PC, which I got back in 2005 but then gutted in 2007 when all hell broke loose in it and I decided to just start fresh after determining the motherboard was at fault. Once the hardware is all bolted together, I'd probably use a Linux variant for the OS. And once I get that functional, then I can start stuffing it full of 2TB hard drives.
Huh, I wanted to be in bed 3 hours ago.
