Let's see.... AWA happened. It was fun, but I don't know if I'll go next year. Nothing against it, I just have other plans. I'm mostly interested in the road trip part of it. That much satisfied the wander-beast.

Whatever cleaning I've tried to do this year has largely fallen by the wayside. I go to a convention, I bring home some more loot. More stuff comes in than what goes out. That's how it goes. But I still have my secret weapon: A computer full of songs. Later this year, during the usual Christmas shutdown, I'll make my usual attempt to tame the mess.

I keep getting an itch to build yet another new computer, but that itch fades when I'm actually using the one I built almost 4 years ago. I fully realize that I've yet to max out the capacity of the motherboard and CPU. I hit the top of my old video card last year, that was an easy fix. The GTS450 I have now is overkill for watching anime. Or maybe I'll get another one the same way I got the current one: When the old one blew up.

The lab coat I wanted for my brownie making adventures? I tried one of the costume ones from the Halloween store, then had to take it back for it being too small. Apparently I'm too big for "one size fits most" anymore. It was tight around the chest, which wasn't surprising. It was also tight on my arms, which is much more rare. Ended up ordering a genuine lab coat from Cole-Parmer, what I should have done in the first place. It didn't cost that much more anyway.

Now, about those brownies? I started off with Ghirardelli's mixes, which was a good start. It originally called for water, but I swapped that out with Bailey's Irish Cream and Disaronno. The results have been highly satisfying. The full recipe shall be posted somewhere eventually. No, I haven't been eating all of them. Most of them end up going to other people. Ok, about half.

Gotta work dayshift part of next week, starting tomorrow. If this were my old job, I'd balk and complain about being outside my usual shift. Then again this job is a lot more flexible with me, so I'm gonna be flexible in return. It doesn't hurt that they pay me more.

Don't mind me, just passing through.

They'd have to be sealed up in bags, but it's not impossible.

Ohhhh, yum. I have a brownie recipe if you're interested in doing them from scratch - really, it's not *that* much more difficult than opening a box. Melting the chocolate is the hardest part, I suppose, without eating it all in the process. But then you have more control over what chocolate you're using in case you get some weird flavor.

I was going to tell you to just get a real lab coat right off the bat, but didn't get a chance to.

Next time we're at mom's, you really need to bring some of those fancy brownies!! :P

Oh, I fully intend on bringing some. A from-scratch recipe is on the horizon, just not immediately.

Hey, that reminds me -- do you have big plans for your birthday? You're invited up to my mother-in-law's for some cake (made by me) and a delicious dinner (might be city chicken or some other insanely filling meal). I'm inviting mom, too, but I didn't know if the two of you had other plans on the 12th. Also, her dinners tend to start early (noon or 1pm) but then you'll have more time to spend kibitzing. :) Let me know!

I suppose that would be a good breakfast for me.
