Argh, my cleaning this time was mostly fail (like the year before), but not entirely unproductive. There were a couple other tasks I was hoping to accomplish during my week off but those fizzled out. What I did get done, in regards to cleaning: Thinned some of the mess in the living room and kitchen areas, sorted through all my old socks and weeded out the ones with holes in them, sifted through a pile of papers that was mostly disposable, picked out a bunch of canned foods and instant ramen packs and other foods I know I'm never going to eat and gave them to my college student niece, and otherwise cleaned up one mess by arbitrarily creating another. I may have finally found a home for the bag of wax lips, but the giant tubs of VHS tapes continues to be a thorn in my side. Renting storage again is still on the horizon, a horizon that creeps ever closer.

Tasks unrelated to cleaning: Installed a new stereo (after trying to fix the old one), started prepping an external hard drive as a tow truck for computers, watched a marathon of anime while chowing down on some buffalo wings, slept in late a few days, and watched some more anime.

Now I gotta go back to work tomorrow (technically this afternoon).

Make a list of all the stuff you have on VHS, and see what is available via torrent. Dump all those ones at the curb with a "FREE - Take me" sign.

Already in progress, especially with older shows where I spent a lot of time copying tapes and recording from cable back in the 90s.

On one hand, it seems both sad and wasteful to just take all those tapes that I spent countless hours recording and kick them out without bothering to watch them. On the other, something tells me that I'll probably not watch them anyway and if I did they might not work right any more. (This indecision is why they're still here.)
