Feb. 8th, 2008 01:56 pmAfter a bit of a scare with the newish computer, where I thought the video card suffered an early death, a driver update solved my problems. But now I'm thinking I'd like to get a bigger case for the beast, since I've kinda shoehorned everything into the current one. New motherboard just barely fit, and suddenly all my available drive slots are full. Ah, computer upgrades. The itch that never goes away, no matter how it's scratched.
Speaking of those kinds of itches, I checked out the model train show the past weekend. I've been to them before, but they used a bigger room this time, and thus had about 4x the amount of stuff. It was also crowded, and I was in a rare age group inbetween children and the grandparents that brought them along. The line between young and old was gone, we were all kids there. There were layouts, large and small. One of them was made entirely out of Lego. Yes, I took pictures. Not much bought, some parts for rebuilding some of my locomotives, and a used one (that runs but is in need of some detailing parts).
Culinary delights: Picked up a bottle of General Tso's sauce during a stop at Wegman's. Now I can use the birdmeat of my choice, or any other kind of meat for that matter. General Tso's ham, beef, pork, fish, bananas, cake, ice cream, and so on.
At work I was able to salvage a flat-panel monitor by taking it apart and replacing about a dollar's worth of parts. I got lucky and do not believe I could repeat that feat. There was another dead one from the same pile, but I gave up on it. It's not impossible to salvage those things, but given the amount of time and effort that usually goes into repair versus the actual cost of a new one? Yeah.
Katsucon: Will probably float in for Saturday. Go in, maybe score some loot in the dealers room, hang out with friends, take some pictures, and likely be back home that evening.
