Apr. 24th, 2016 03:43 pmYay, I was able to save one of my computers; all it needed was a new power supply. There was also the issue of the motherboard being slightly warped and one of the mounts for the CPU fan kept popping off as a result but it doesn't seem to be any worse off for it. If the motherboard was in fact bad, that would have probably meant the end of that system.
Estate things: The last official thing to do was send a final status report, which should be received by the ROW on Monday. All of the big things are done. Gil's in his final resting place in Ireland, his belongings and money distributed, bills are paid, and forms filed. The only remaining bits are winding down his email subscriptions and closing out the estate's checking account, which are in progress.
The bill for Ai's inspection was a little under $1k, which is unusual because it's usually been higher the last few years. Total repair bills approaching $2k are not unheard of. It's not that there's a lot of work that doesn't need done, because there is. I can't say I'm mad about it, or mad at her, because I'm not. The only thing that bothers me, is that most of the needed work is something I could do myself, if I only had the appropriate work area, such as a garage. I wouldn't mind doing the work then.
You know how there are people who spend a lot of time and effort on fixing up vintage British roadsters? That's going to be me someday except with Integras. I'm fine with that and actually look forward to it.
