-Got an engine hoist! Got mine for a bit under $200, thanks to the DIY heroes at Harbor Freight. It folds up out of the way when not in use. It's not that I expect to need to replace an engine on either car any time soon, but there are some repairs that can only really be done when it's out of the car. And if I do eventually need to replace an engine? Well then, I'll be ready for that too. Speaking as someone who has had to let go of a car because of a blown engine in the past, having the resources and ability to replace one now means a lot to me. It'll also be handy if I need to lift really heavy objects in general.

-For the sake of reference, I can get a used motor for Ai for about $400, and put another few hundred into rebuilding it (gaskets, seals, belts, piston rings, various hardware, machine shop time), depending on condition. Availability is strong; there are dozens within a range of 100 miles. Which means that for under a grand, I could get and prepare a whole spare engine. Or have something to practice on.

-If I ever have to replace the engine in Nozomi, that's going to be trickier. Her engine is much more rare and sought-after. If Nozomi gets wrecked, and Ai is in need of an engine at the time, I could do what's known as a K-swap, so named because it's known as a K20 motor. That sort of project is well-documented, and there is a wide variety of parts available to facilitate it. But that's highly unlikely to happen.

-Both cars still need to get their air conditioning fixed, as they have for a few years now. It's not as urgent during fall/winter/spring, so I'm not really thinking about it then, but in the summer, it can get unpleasant. Also required if I want to do any kind of road trip again.

-Got an oil analysis done on Nozomi. Results are good, especially for 254k miles. I'm curious as to what the results will be when I have that done for Ai. I just changed her oil not long ago, so I'll have to wait a few months. Or when I have to drop the oil pan (again).

-As of this past January, I've had Nozomi for 10 years. As of this coming May, she'll turn 14.

-Remember Google Plus? That's gone now, because Google has this awful habit of discontinuing products and services as soon as they don't make enough money. Yeah, I know they're not a charity, and they're the ones with billions of dollars, but everytime they do that, people lose trust in them. (There's an ArsTechnica article where they call Google out for that shit.) That lack of trust is why I suspect that G+ never really took off. Nobody wanted to put anything into a platform that they knew was going to eventually get shut down with little warning.

-Recently I got a new keyboard for my laptop. It works but I have to be more forceful with keystrokes to get them to register. I noticed the new one has a much flimsier backing plate. I'll either put the original back on, get a different one ($15), or find some way to make the new one more rigid.

-"Isekai Quartet" is the ambitious anime crossover this world didn't know it needed. Konosuba, Overlord, Re:zero, and Youjo Senki.
