(no subject)
Mar. 17th, 2020 03:35 amIshuzoku Reviewers continues to be a blessing of an anime. It started off strong and only got better with each episode. Maybe it's refreshing that the main characters are getting laid multiple times per episode, instead of like in other anime where the protagonist will spend 12+ episodes working up the courage to hold hands with a girl? What's also refreshing about that anime, is that there's no kink-shaming. Everyone has their own thing they get off to, and nobody questions it. When everyone's a freak, no one is. Also, in light of the subject matter, it should also be pointed out that nobody is doing it against their will. Anyway, I've also started reading the manga for this, and it looks like there will be actual plot developments, in addition to the (literal) fucking around. Although I don't think there will be enough of the anime left to go into that plot, and I'll be surprised if there's a second season of it.
The anime for Magia Record isn't going as well as I was hoping. It's good, buuuuuuuuut it doesn't keep my eyes glued to the screen like the original Madoka Magica series did. It feels less like a proper addition to the overall story, and more like going back and forth between a really long commercial for the mobile game of the same name and an abstract mashup of Bakemonogatari and Hidamari Sketch. While I do like those shows, and I'd be down for that sort of mashup, the Madokaverse isn't the place for that. I don't know if they'll tie this all together somehow or if they were just phoning it in.
My DVD collection of the Slayers anime is now complete. The main series was easy. The OVAs and movies have been out of print for over 10 years and could only be found on the used markets. I'm not sure why I didn't buy them back then when they first came out. Probably because ADV kept making collector's packs that increased in size and each time I thought "I'll wait for the next one".
Isekai Quartet is still fun. Although, they have yet to pull off an Emilia/Megumin seiyuu joke. Or bring back Clementine from Overlord and pair her with Tanya for the same reason.
Nekopara: An anime about catgirl maids doing cute things. That's the extent of the plot and that's all the reason I need to watch this. Turn on Nekopara anime, turn off brain.
I've gotten so far behind on the Index/Railgun series. I've seen the first couple series of each. I think I held off on the more recent ones thinking I'll wait for the whole thing to come out and marathon it. I just didn't expect so much of it at once. So with the third seasons of each, plus the Accelerator series, that puts me behind by almost 70 episodes?
Car stuff: Got Ai's broken door handle replaced, and a driver's side handle at the ready, because as expected, that is getting gummy too, and that one is used much more often. When I replace that, I'm also going to address the gummy lock mechanism that makes the key really hard to turn sometimes. That involves taking the mechanism itself apart, cleaning the internals, and greasing it on reassembly.
Funny thing about that; each of the spare handles came with a lock assembly included. Of course my key didn't match them, and fortunately the locks can be moved from one handle to the other with ease. So, I had two surplus locks, which can be further taken apart. Going into more detail, the way Honda did it for these cars, was that each lock has 7 tumblers, and each tumbler has a number, 1 to 6 depending on the key it matches. So, a sample combination would be 1-6-2-5-3-4-1. I took apart the lock I was keeping (that my key works for), and made a note on which tumbler numbers mine used, where they were on the lock, and checked the surplus locks for the same numbers. I think I have enough for a full working spare lock if I had to replace one. Also, having the numbers means that if I had to order new tumblers from Honda, I'd know which ones I need.
Nozomi is starting to leak oil. There's a small sub-assembly that sits on the back of the cylinder head, and the $4 gasket for that is known to crack and get brittle and let oil leak past. The valve cover gasket is probably also overdue. This goes for pretty much every K-series engine made by Honda, not just Nozomi. On one hand I'm like "wait, she's too young to be needing work like this" and then I remember that she's officially a teenager and on track to hit 300k miles in a little over a year. I also remember that I have the place to do this kind of work too.

Ron joked that the worst part about the pandemic was that it was delaying this show right at the most exciting part. We aren't interested in Accelerator because he was THE most annoying character.
2.5. A Railgun is a real thing and a railroad gun was a real and terrifying thing, did you know that? It was news to me. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DAs3NzDQknVc&ved=2ahUKEwiCs_P5laHoAhXDlHIEHc-MBJUQt9IBMA56BAg0ECQ&usg=AOvVaw30wVAgoFAHWYq5m7DWzOFf
3. Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga is my favorite 'tune in, check out' anime right now. Ancient Japan's warlords reincarnated as dogs....how can you go wrong?

Yay Konosuba!!
Ron's also liking Yuru Yuri. :p
