Since the snowstorm last week threw a wrench in my plans, I went into work for a single day this week to claw back a day's worth of vacation time. That would be more useful for a road trip in the summer or another trip to Japan in the fall, if that becomes an option again.

In previous years, I'd be doing some kind of major cleanup but this time around I don't have the motivation. I shouldn't rely on motivation though. There's a lot of stuff that's stayed in place since it was moved in 3 years ago, and that eventually has to move somewhere more appropriate.

Work on the train layout is slowing down due to the cold. I still have a bunch of kits to assemble. That'll be done at the workbench in the basement, which does have some heat.

In 2016, I almost bought a radio-controlled monster truck. I didn't because I already have enough hobbies and side-projects to last me the rest of my life and then some.

There are a few of Lego's Speed Champion sets I missed out on at some point, and I really have no excuse for that. The sets are available, if I'm willing to pay 3x what they originally retailed for. I figure at this point, I may be better off just recreating some of them using bricks I already have and filling in the rest from BrickLink. This is exactly what I did when I recreated Lego's iconic Galaxy Explorer, except I used the opportunity to change up the color scheme. Instead of the original gray and blue, I went with black and red.

If I had a radio show, it would be about denpa music. I'd call it something like "Miracle Denpa BBQ Hour", and then I'd go in with the same kind of energy and vibe as a DJ at a pirate radio station that plays hard rock/heavy metal.

When Elvis Presley was my age, he had been dead for 4 years. I outlived Elvis! I just hope I never outweigh him. Also, I was born too early to be the reincarnation of Elvis. But if someone told me I was the reincarnation of Peter Lorre, I guess that would make more sense.

When I built and configured my server 3 years ago, I made a subtle mistake that ended up being messy. That is, the version of FreeNAS I was using until recently allowed full permissions on files stored at root level on the volume with no datasets. Then in order to install Plex, I had to update the FreeNAS, and create a dataset for Plex, and that's when all hell broke loose because suddenly I mostly lost access to about 10TB of files. I say mostly because on my main laptop, I still had full access. So I used that to break the locks and reset the permissions so I could move everything into its own dataset, which is what I should have done in the first place.

And now to spend the next week and a half destroying my sleep schedule.

Huh. I was born about 5 months before he died, and I too have outlived Elvis. I had to Google to make sure I haven't outweighed him... Thankfully, no. (350 pounds!)

Elvis ate America, before America ate him.
