Jul. 31st, 2003 01:00 amOtakon approaches! Bearing down hard on the calendar with all the rampant force of a shopping cart on crystal meth! Such as is my pre-con preparing practices, it will be completely ambiguous until the very moment I leave home, and even after that it'll be fuzzy.
Work-wise, I thought this week would be rather slow, but things have come up and I end up not getting home until well past 10 at night. Overtime pay, though.
Anyway, I was in a video game store, to get a cable for my PS2. Four bucks. So I go to the counter to purchase it, and the girl behind the counter asks me if I'd like the one year warranty for an extra $3.
Me: "For a $4 item?"
Her: "Yes."
The fact that she replied with a completely straight face is one of those things that I find more than mildly disturbing.

Date: 2003-08-01 05:58 pm (UTC)The TV's nice, gonna wait awhile before I move onto the next step, mainly until I get more stuff here.
Anything at Otakon you want?
Otakon stuff.
Date: 2003-08-07 08:13 am (UTC)ridiculous warranties
Date: 2003-08-04 08:20 am (UTC)Yeah, she has to say it, but she should at least realize the silliness in the concept for a power cable. Does she ask people who buy a pack of batteries if they want the "extended warranty" with that??
