Dec. 1st, 2004 12:29 amThe weekend was odd. Sunday was originally set aside to be a do-nothing day, literally a day of rest, but found out my hot water heater wasn't heating water, but letting it drizzle out the side instead. Explains the mildew smell and funny noises for the past week. Eh, it was old, and I could only get 3 minutes of shower at a time before the water ran completely cold. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. I could have waited until Monday and called someone in to replace it, but I felt brave. Plus I wanted to save (more than) a few bucks. And so, with a burst of self-confidence, I set upon myself the task of replacing the hot water heater. There were a couple unexpected setbacks, but they weren't bigger than the forseen problems, such as how to wrestle with a hot water heater single-handedly, and transporting it in Yamiko-chan. Plus I learned a few handy things in the process.
"Bob has gained experience points!"
"Bob has gone up a level!"
"Bob has learned a skill: CPVC solvent-welding!"
So yeah.
Also, scraping titanium deposits with an X-Acto blade makes for some interesting fireworks.
