I'm kinda at Katsucon, yet technically I'm not. Decided to not get a room there this year. Didn't spend much time there for Friday, thanks to the fact that I went into work for half a day and the work commute from hell this morning. That'll happen when I-83 gets shut down due to a bunch of wrecks from icy roads. If I had known it would've been that bad, I would have schluffed off work entirely and found another way there. At least I found some interesting backup routes that most people wouldn't bother themselves with learning, and I got Ai-chan's cd player working properly again. Turned out it was just a dinky little belt that wore out, the kind that cost more to ship than for the actual part itself. Putting the new belt in was an operation in itself (all the parts are small and easily knocked out of alignment), but all told, it sure did beat having to buy a new cd player, or even the repair charge for fixing it. So if anyone out there has a Pioneer CD player from a couple years ago that'll load/eject a disc but not read it, it could be that. And I even have an extra belt. Gotta love complete parts availability to the general public. Ok then, off to bed for me.

Enlightenment, please.

For the uninitiated...like your geriatric cousin here...what's Katsucon?

Be fun and have good.

Katsucon is a convention for anime. There are a bunch of them that I go to in a year's time, and they're all run largely by different people, which is good; since it makes for a different experience each time.

Thanks. I think that if I were 35 years younger, had $15,000 or so per annum more...or more, and lived somewhere else (don't want much do I?!), I'd probably try to find groups like that with whom I share one of my numerous fascinations. I'm hooked on the Myst series myself and would love to meet with people who have hacked the code and know how to tweak things a bit. Anyway, glad you enjoy the anime thing, which I also don't know much about; think I'll do some googling on it.

Actually, those two have been going to Ohayocon instead for the past couple years. It's a lot closer to them.

As for Otakon? They're putting a cap on attendance this year, and doing away with one-day memberships. And depending on how pre-reg numbers are, they might not have at-door memberships either. It's gonna be nuts.

Oh, one other thing: One highlight was seeing the owner of Pandora's sitting at the Anti-Piracy table. It is suspected that it's part of the community service settlement, ever since his stores got busted by the Feds.
