At this point, I must say that my endeavors at Anime North have been successful. I attended the KOTOKO concert, and had one of her cds autographed by her. I am pleased.

The concert itself? It rocked my world. She started off with singing "Suppuration-Core" wearing a long black robe that covered just about everything, then at the beginning of "Re-sublimity" her backup dancers pulled the cloak off to reveal her oft-seen outfit of shiny silver shirt and black shorts, which she wore through that and the next couple songs, which were "Hane" and "Being". Then she went off stage to change into the cutest Mounty outfit ever. She also played "Face of Fact", "Dudiduwa-lalala", "Oboetete Iiyo", "Chi ni Kaeru", "Shooting Star", (something in the vein of that order; it's not like I was taking notes cuz I was there to rock out, so the playlist is open for clarification if someone wants to step up to the plate and verify that), and finishing the set off with "Wing My Way" and "Short Circuit", which happen to be two of my Favoritest Songs Evar. For much of the concert, I could actually feel the floor move. It was cool. She also had a cheat-sheet to address the audience in Engrish, which was adorable, really. And yes, she was short. (But most of you out reading this already knew that. What didja think I was gonna say, that she was actually over 7 feet tall?)

After that was over, we waited in line so we could get things autographed. One line was for people that bought the domestic release of her "Hane" cd, the other line was for people with other things, like the little program guide that was handed out for the event, or costume props, or pizza boxes, or things like that. I once watched Sailor Bacon have an empty can of Tang signed by Kia Asamiya. Y'know, I should go around cons from now on with an empty pizza box, and have as many con guests sign it as possible. Then I'd have a pizza box with umpteen zillion autographs on it, and it would be The Thing To Do for guests at cons, and they'd come asking me to sign the Convention Pizza Box. That would be cool. Then I'd leave it out of my sight for one minute too long and someone from the hotel cleaning staff would see it and think it was trash and throw it away. That wouldn't be cool. So maybe that's why I haven't implemented that idea yet.

Oh yeah, where was I? Ah, the signing thing. What I had signed was her "Glass no Kaze" cd that I got last year. "Hane" is a great cd, but I have more of a connection to the other one, hence my choice. Anyway. They were telling us while we were in line that she was going to leave in 45, 30, 20, 10, 5 minutes, and we're all thinking "ah we're not gonna make it, we'll have to come back tomorrow" except for the folks that were there for just one day, which were simply thinking that they were going to be screwed out of an autograph. But lo and behold, KOTOKO said that she'd finish out what was in the lines, and there was much rejoicing. Didn't get any pictures, though.

If I'm here tomorrow morning/afternoon, I may have her sign another item. Her second autograph session is early in the afternoon, which still leaves me a goodly amount of time to pack up and roll on home. I'll at least go to the Geneon panel tomorrow morning. More on this tomorrow-ish. Or Monday, depending on when I can get my next cup of internet.

Over and out.
