Wa-hey, new layout for the update page?

Third Saturday in a row that I went to work. I figure sometime next week I'll have an actual day off, when the whole place literally shuts down for Christmas. That would be nice, but the OT pay I'm getting is also nice, greedy whatever that I am. What's also nice is being able to work at my bench where I can also play a string of mp3s of my choice.

I'm seriously thinking of ditching my land-line home telephone altogether and going completely cellular. The vast majority of my incoming calls are telemarketers, and that's even after signing up on the No-Call list, and I hardly make any outgoing calls. Plus it's useless for dialup internet, speaking from experience. But that would mean changing my cellular number, which I would not look forward to, because it's a number that I've known for a good many years and many friends and familiy have known for a good many years. On the other hand, I can tell Verizon to go jump in a lake.

Ergh, I bought belts for one of my vcr's a year ago and have yet to install them.

To-do list: Re-install [livejournal.com profile] yamikochan's radio for the time being, design and build adapter to feed USB-powered devices from car voltage. More like simply build, a 7805 voltage regulator (or a 323 for more high-drain devices) will do most of the work. [/geek] Yeah, I could go and buy something like it and be done with it, but that's no fun since I already have most if not all of the components and more importantly the skill to put it together.

Ok, wrapping this up before I pass out for the night.

You should be able to keep your same number if you change cellular providers, as long as it remains within the same market (local servicing area).

That's the problem; my current cellphone number isn't local to my area. I originally got it years ago when I was still living with my mom.

Inserted parenthetical clause...

..."more importantly the skill," of which I, Gil, have always been envious in you and every other electronics whiz I know, "to put it together."

Thanks for the compliment! Someday I should show you the power adapter I built up for my first CD player (the one that was held together by electrical tape when I got it).
