Not sure if what you're thinking would work, because to get the grease in the balloons, would mean heating it up, which would heat up the balloons and cause them to break prematurely. Unless you're thinking of something else, in which case, do tell.
If it's been in the fridge, you can still cook with it. But if you've been leaving it out on the counter, it's trash...unless you *want* to attract skunks and rats to a woodpile with it...
I guess you could heat it up, strain it, and mix it with some lye to make some old-fashioned soap?
mmmmmm, hot bacon dressing....but really, that's best made with fresh slab bacon (not sliced, but cubed) because the bacon is the best part of the dressing!
You can fry potatoes in it, grease pans with it, and when boiling potatoes a tsp. in the boiling water helps keep the foam from developing and boiling over.
